- Motion on "Perfecting housing policy and resolving public housing need" passed

- Motion on "Equal rights for people of different sexual orientations" debated

 

At the Legislative Council meeting of 7 November 2012, the Council passed the following proposed resolution:

Proposed resolution moved by Hon Ronny TONG under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Solicitors' Accounts (Amendment) Rules 2012, the Accountant's Report (Amendment) Rules 2012, the Solicitors (Professional Indemnity) (Amendment) Rules 2012, the Solicitors' Practice (Amendment) Rules 2012 and the Foreign Lawyers Practice (Amendment) Rules 2012, which were laid on the table of the Legislative Council on 17 October 2012.

At the same meeting, the Council passed the following motion not intended to have legislative effect with amendment:

Motion on "Perfecting housing policy and resolving public housing need", moved by Hon WONG Kwok-hing as amended by Hon James TIEN.

36 Members expressed their views.

The amendments moved by Hon LEE Cheuk-yan, Hon LEUNG Che-cheung, Hon Gary FAN, Hon Michael TIEN and Ir Dr Hon LO Wai-kwok respectively were negatived.  As Hon James TIEN's amendment was passed, Dr Hon KWOK Ka-ki withdrew his amendment.

Besides, the Council debated the following motion not intended to have legislative effect:

Motion on "Equal rights for people of different sexual orientations", moved by Hon Cyd HO.

21 Members expressed their views.

The motion moved by Hon Cyd HO was negatived.  The amendments moved by Hon Mrs Regina IP, Hon CHUNG Kwok-pan, Hon Gary FAN and Hon CHAN Chi-chuen respectively were also negatived. 

Hon Ronny TONG moved a motion under Rule 49E(2) of the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council to take note of Report No. 2/12-13 of the House Committee laid on the Table of the Council in relation to the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance (Public Pleasure Grounds) (Amendment of Fourth Schedule) (No. 2) Order 2012.

4 Members expressed their views.

In accordance with Rule 49E(9) of the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council, the above motion did not need to be put to vote.
