- Motion on "Vote of no confidence in the Chief Executive" debated

 

At the Legislative Council meeting of 12 December 2012, the Council passed the following motions not intended to have legislative effect with amendments:

Motion on "Urging the Government to regulate health food products", moved by Dr Hon Joseph LEE as amended by Hon Alice MAK, Hon Vincent FANG and Hon Alan LEONG.

21 Members expressed their views.

At the same meeting, the Council also debated the following motion not intended to have legislative effect:

Motion on "Vote of no confidence in the Chief Executive", moved by Hon WU Chi-wai.

33 Members expressed their views. 

The motion moved by Hon WU Chi-wai was negatived. 

Besides,  Hon Ronny TONG moved a motion under Rule 49E(2) of the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council to take note of Report No. 7/12-13 of the House Committee laid on the Table of the Council in relation to the Banking (Capital) (Amendment) Rules 2012, Banking (Specification of Multilateral Development Bank) (Amendment) Notice 2012, Banking (Amendment) Ordinance 2012 (Commencement) Notice 2012, Telecommunications (Determining Spectrum Utilization Fees by Auction) (Amendment) Regulation 2012, Telecommunications (Designation of Frequency Bands subject to Payment of Spectrum Utilization Fee) (Amendment) Order 2012 and Mediation Ordinance (Commencement) Notice.

7 Members expressed their views in 3 debate sessions.

In accordance with Rule 49E(9) of the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council, the above motion did not need to be put to vote.

Preview of the next Council meeting:

At its meeting to be held on 19 December 2012, the Legislative Council will deal with the following matters:

(1) To consider a proposed resolution moved by Hon LEE Cheuk-yan under the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance to appoint a select committee to inquire into the unauthorized building works in House Nos. 4 and 5 of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Mr LEUNG Chun-ying at No. 4 Peel Rise on the Peak and related issues;

(2) To debate a motion on "Small and Medium Enterprises Financing Guarantee Scheme", moved by Hon CHUNG Kwok-pan; and

(3) To debate a motion on "Reviving the quality of local education and stopping the blind industrialization of education", moved by Hon Mrs Regina IP.
